This is a classroom-based 1-day SCS-certified course in fire extinguisher training. It is available from SCS when requested to suit your schedule. We are able to provide this as one-on-one training if you need it, so there is no minimum number of enrollments for this course and scheduling is flexible.

On the job or off, if a fire breaks out it can endanger lives and property, and spread quickly from a small point of ignition into a lethal blaze. If you need to know how to use a fire extinguisher safely and effectively for your job or other roles, this course will give you the background information on fires and the practical extinguisher skills you need. The training includes hands-on experience, as you will be required to extinguish a Class B fire with an extinguisher.

This is a classroom-based 1-day Enform (ESC)-certified course in H2S safety available at SCS daily. SCS partners with Enform (ESC) to make sure we can bring you H2S Alive™ training, the gold standard in Alberta for workers in upstream oil and gas as well as other industries.

If you need to work in the oilfields or any petroleum handling facility, H2S Alive™ is typically mandatory for almost all employees and facilities staff, as the industry is committed to protecting you from the dangers of hydrogen sulphide gas including permanent injury and death. Other industries requiring H2S training include mining, sewage/waste treatment, agriculture, pulp and paper, etc.

This is a classroom-based 1-day Global Training-certified course in ground disturbance. It is available at SCS every week. SCS partners with Global Training to make sure we can bring you this supervisor-level ground disturbance training, which is a gold-standard ground disturbance course recognized by industry regulators.

This course is right for you if you need to supervise a ground disturbance such as excavations, earth-moving, or the maintenance of underground facilities, perform a ground disturbance on your own, or issue and receive GD permits. It will teach you the regulations and requirements for safe ground disturbance practices from pre-planning to the actual dig.

This is a classroom-based 1-day ESC-certified course in fall protection available at SCS at SCS multiple times a week. SCS partners with Energy Safety Canada to make sure we can bring you this fall protection training, which is an industry-standard course required on ESC-partnership worksites in Alberta and recognized across other industries and sectors.

This fall protection training provides the theory and practical skills so you can work safely height. It also includes hands-on exercises where you will be taught to fit and adjust a harness, hang from a fall protection system tripod, and explore self-rescue techniques.

More than half the classroom time is for hands-on practice of the skills of first aid, so you will leave our course ready and able to perform practical first aid in emergency situations.

This is a classroom-based 1-day SCS-certified course in forklift operations available through Safety Coordination Services once per month. This forklift operations training is suitable for workers and operators in the warehousing, manufacturing, construction, and upstream oil and gas industry.

This forklift training course provides the theory for understanding the unique hazards and handling of forklifts (as well as lift trucks and skid steers). It also includes a practical training component allowing you to learn to handle a forklift and drive it in a simulated work environment.

SCS class cancellations – SCS reserves the right to cancel classes that do not reach the minimum enrollment requirements (e.g. on weekends) and/or for extenuating circumstances beyond its control. Of course, SCS will notify all registrants in a timely manner prior to the class start date. Fees for cancelled classes will be refunded in full or applied to another course upon request.

Student cancellations/withdrawals and no-shows – Formal cancellation or withdrawal from a course requires the student to provide notice of 24 hours prior to the class start date, by phone or e-mail: registration@safetycoordination.com or (780) 485-3585. Not showing up for a class without having cancelled or rescheduled at least 24 hours in advance is considered a no-show. The following fees apply for no-shows: $65 for weekday courses, full cost for weekend courses.

Wednesday start time – All courses on Wednesdays start at 9:00 a.m. instead of the usual 8:00 a.m. start time all other days. Always show up at least 15 minutes early for all courses to have time to check in.

Photo ID – All courses require you to bring along government-issued photo ID in order to receive your certification.
