Asbestos Worker Occupational Health and Safety (Alberta Government Certified)
This is our classroom-based 2-day Alberta government-certified course in asbestos worker health and safety available monthly at SCS.
Asbestos removal work involves a lot of risk because of the level of health hazards of asbestos on workers. To be certified to safely work in asbestos abatement, workers need to take a course that covers specific information required by the Alberta government.
“Great course! Detailed info provided.”
“For new workers, the demos were helpful.”
“The most valuable part of the course was the hands on practice, as well as the reminder to put safety first.”
The course combines theory and hands-on exercises to teach you the skills you need to work safely around asbestos and in asbestos removal. This is so critical to learn correctly, as doing it wrong can lead to deadly results.
The class time includes theory, videos, and hands-on demonstrations of asbestos safety skills, so you will leave our course able to perform removal of asbestos-containing materials (ACMs) safely and efficiently.
Course topics include the following:
– Asbestos types, properties, friability, uses
– Health hazards
– Abatement methods
– Abatement procedures
– Personal protective equipment, including respirators
– Sampling (air and bulk) and analysis
– Other hazards
